Tutorial: How to Use Color and Icons in VDS Posts

You have probably noticed all the pretty text, highlighting, and icons that are around VDS, both in Sanctum messages:

Some of the basics of these can be found in the little drop-down boxes above the area where you can leave Sanctum messages.  You'll notice that when you select a color (this example shows red highlighting), a code appears in the box (in this case {#1}):

That same code can be used in your Sanctum message.  For example, my Sanctum message, shown in the first image above, looks like this when I edit it:
